All Points East tour of the month: Images of Laos

Welcome to All Points East

Thailand, Koh Laoliang 2

All Points East is an independent, fully licensed, UK based travel company offering adventure tours, holidays and vacations to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Malaysia (including Borneo), Brunei and China.

Our goal is to produce unusual, original and quality trips at reasonable prices with an emphasis on off the beaten track destinations and eco-tourism and a commitment to responsible travel.

Our holidays - both scheduled tours and tailor-made itineraries - are designed to appeal to those wishing to discover the real South East Asia; singles, couples, families - old and young - anyone with a sense of adventure!

For schedules and prices check the relevant tour page and for 'last minute' holiday departures and adventure tours throughout South East Asia check out our late availability section

Cambodia, Angkor red sunrise

In depth knowledge of the Indochina region enables us to offer original itineraries with a balance between the region's better known 'must-sees' and it’s off-the-beaten-track, 'well kept secrets'.

All Points East tours will provide a real insight into the countries you are visiting - culture, history, landscape and natural world - and allow opportunities for genuine interaction with the local people and communities.

As much as possible on our adventure trips we will stay in smaller, family-run accommodation, eat in local restaurants and use local style transport. In addition all guides and agencies used are considered friends rather than 'business contacts'. The idea being that you will visit Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Brunei, and Malaysia as guests rather than as tourists.

Vietnam, hilltribes in Sapa mkt

Respect for local people, their cultures, traditions, religions and environment are essential to All Points East philosophy, and we work hard to ensure our groups have a positive impact on the places and people visited.

News

New web-site
Our new website is currently under construction and we're hoping to have it up and running soon, so in the meantime if we've been a bit slack in updating info included in our old site apologies and please bear with us!

Burma/Myanmar
In the light of recent comments by Aung San Suu Kyi, (see article here), and discussions with Responsible Travel we've decided to begin offering Burma/Myanmar tours from 2012 onwards. First departure 28th January. See full details here.

You can find a more complete overview of our thinking and policy on Burma tours at this link.

Vietnam; Cheaper and simpler!
We’re also really pleased to see that Vietnam Airlines are now promising to introduce direct flights from London to Saigon, (and Hanoi?), later this year which will make Vietnam trips simpler and cheaper so hopefully giving a big boost to both our All Points East tours of Vietnam as well as tourism in general in a country that, as S. E. Asia goes, has been sadly under-represented in terms of UK visitors. Ask Les in the UK office for further details.

Best UK Tour Operator for Local Communities in Thailand!
All Points East are very proud to announce we are the 2010 winners of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Green Award, for Best UK Tour Operator for Local Communities in Thailand. The award is given in conjunction with responsibletravel.com, who's Director, Justin Frances said "All Points East are an excellent example of a tour operator with long-standing commitments to providing tours that work with and preserve the traditions of local people. Their off-the-beaten-track itineraries provide a focus on bringing the benefits of tourism to rarely-visited communities, employ 75% Thai national guides, and visit 100% locally run restaurants. They visit local markets as alternatives to souvenir shops, and insist their travellers only visit sites with minimal negative impacts to wildlife and the environment."

More details can be seen here on Responsible Travel

New Tours, New Itineraries
Due to changes in local transport infrastructure etc and customer suggestions, we have tweaked/fine-tuned many of our existing itineraries for 2011. Places change; some become just too popular whilst other remoter destinations open up with new roads and so-on. We have also added shorter versions of many of our most popular tours to cater to those with less time to spare. If tour lengths do not correspond to your time-frame please consult out office staff for alternatives.

Malaysia
Check our new Malaysia tour including Southern Thailand which we're hoping will be very popular since it's certainly one of our favourites! We reckon it ticks all the boxes with culture and history in KL & Penang, awesome jungle and nature in Cameron Highlands & Belum Forest and some of South Thailand's best scenery and beaches in Trang Province. Check here for full details.

Vietnam & Laos
We've been out and about in Vietnam & Laos, checking out some new roads, new destinations so please check our exciting new Vietnam and Lao tour itineraries.(Vietnam and Laos.)
